AN AWARD-winning architect's artwork is being displayed at a prestigious exhibition.

Karl Singporewala, from Langley Green, is having his architectural model Corrgregation Canyons: Atria Etude displayed at the Royal Academy of Arts' summer exhibition.

Mr Singporewala's work is being displayed at the exhibition, which has run every year since 1769, for the third time, having previously been chosen by the committee in 2007 and 2008.

Mr Singporewala, 27, a graduate of the University of Brighton, said: "The inspiration for this architectural model was the theme of it being an early stage before an architectural design.

"This exhibition is a great opportunity.

"It is an honour to be picked by the committee for this prestigious exhibition and I hope it will be a big success."

Mr Singporewala works for Ian Ritchie Architects and has contributed to a number of international and domestic projects.

He said: "The best part of being an architect is that my favourite hobby is my job as well."

Mr Singporewala was chosen as one of the UK's top 20 young creative people in Channel 4's 4Talent competition.

His other awards include a first prize for excellence in architecture at Nogaya University in Japan and the first prize award for excellence in art and design at University of Seoul, South Korea.

The Royal Academy's summer exhibition is the world's largest open submission contemporary art exhibition.

Now in its 242nd year, the exhibition showcases work by emerging and established artists in all media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, architecture and film.

The theme of this year's exhibition is "raw".

There were more than 11,000 entries, from which 1,267 pieces were selected. All the pieces are on sale, offering visitors an opportunity to purchase original work by high-profile and up-and-coming artists.

The commission the Royal Academy makes on each piece sold is put back into the Royal Academy schools.

The exhibition is open from now until August 22.

Tickets are available by calling 08442 090051 or online at www.royalacademy.org.uk
