Crawley's warriors punch their weight
SEVERAL Crawely based fighters shone at the Warriors 18 International Thaiboxing show held in the town's Liquid Nightclub.
Malec Stewart, 24, from Pound Hill, lost a tight points decision to Arnus Tzsayaksi.

This was a novice bout over five by 1.5 minute rounds. Stewart did very well in a close run fight scoring well with kicks and knees but Tzsayaksi came back well and took a points victory.
Jack Jarvis, 12, from Northgate, beat Jordan White from Ayr in Scotland to take the United Kingdom Muay Thai Federation British Junior title. Both boys showed amazing technique and courage beyond their years in a very exciting bout.
Jarvis kept pushing forward and edged the last two rounds to take the decision on points.
Marc Brown, 37, from Ifield, was taking on the up and coming youngster from London, Joseph Verela.
This turned into a very tough bout with both boxers showing good heart and determination.
Verela scored better in the final two rounds to take a points victory.
Ladies European Champion Ruth Asdown, 31, from Haywards Heath took her revenge against Soraya Bucherie from France. Ashdown lost to Bucherie in London back in May this year.
Ashdown looked composed as she walked out to a huge roar from her fans. The bout was started at a good pace with Ashdown constantly putting pressure on her opponent.
Bucherie seemed to get back into the fight in the third round scoring well.
Ashdown listened well to her corner and put more pressure on in the fourth, landing a beautiful left hook that sent Bucherie to the canvas, her legs were gone and she could not make the count.
Alan Sawyer, 30, from Pound Hill won the UKMF British title. by beating Ally Smith from Glasgow.
From the first bell Sawyer set about the champion, fighting with his heart on his sleeve pushing forward and applying pressure at a pace normally associated with the later rounds.
In the last round Sawyer landed a perfectly timed step Knee which dropped the champion, Smith made the count only to be hunted down again with Sawyer looking for the finish.
Again he found the sweet spot with a strong kick to the body, and again the worthy champion made the count, but Sawyer could smell victory and stalked his opponent looking for that finishing shot.
A sweet punch to the body finally took Smith down, but he had no more to give.
Last and not least was World Champion Paulo Da silva, fighting at slightly heavier weight against French champion Gaylord Montier, and took a commendable draw. Montier started very strong and Da Silva responded, both fighters throwing and landing good shots.
In the third round Montier pushed Da Silva back and landed a strong right cross which sent Da Silva to the canvas.
Da Silva looked composed taking advantage of the full count before rising, Da Silva showed great heart and experience coming back well in the fourth and by the fifth round was winning the fight.
