Experts from Archaeology South East were at the National Trust site on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (yesterday) excavating land near the visitors' entrance.

DIGGING UP HISTORY: Archaeologists Liane Peyre and Matthew Pope at Bodiam Castle
The site, which is known to have been the location of a harbour for transporting goods to the castle, has never been fully studied and the work has been commissioned before plans for modifications to the castle sewage treatment are submitted.
As well as working on the dig, the experts were also fielding questions about their work, and on Wednesday a specialist was on hand to examine archaeological finds brought in by visitors.
