People 60 and over benefit from free swims
ANYONE aged 60 or over can go swimming for free in Rother.
On Wednesday, Rother District Council announced it will be providing free swimming, in partnership with Freedom Leisure, at Bexhill and Rye pools.
All people will need is photo ID in the form of a driving licence or passport to prove their age.
For regular swimmers, Freedom Leisure is offering the chance to buy a 60+ swim pass for £2 which will act as an ID card for convenience.
Rother District Council cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, Cllr Deirdre Williams, said: "This scheme offers people the chance to stay fit and healthy at no cost. This is something which is becoming increasingly important in the current economic climate. Swimming is a low impact sport with proven health benefits. The council is delighted to be able to give this opportunity to its residents aged 60 and over."
