Police arrest two men over audacious 'Mercedes theft'
TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of theft following a call to police that a man had driven off in a Mercedes that he was pretending to be interested in buying.
Two potential buyers had arrived at an address in Pound Hill on July 9 after arranging a viewing of the car.
At about 5.50pm one of the men viewing the silver car jumped in and sped off, with the keys having been in the ignition.
The other man drove off in a Vauxhall Astra, which the men had arrived in.

The car owner immediately informed the police and road policing units were scrambled.
An Astra was then stopped on the M25 and both male occupants, a 25-year-old from London and a 27-year-old from Ilford, Essex, were arrested. The Mercedes was found abandoned and undamaged shortly afterwards in Turners Hill.
PC Tom Hawkins, from Crawley's neighbourhood response team, said: "This was a very bold act of theft. Thankfully, the victim informed police immediately."
The two arrested men have been released on bail until dates in September.
