Privilege to support the community
SUPPORTING the community to raise money for local charities and organisations is an important part of my role.
It was a pleasure to support the food festival in East Grinstead; my thanks to Nicholas Castiglione from Meridian FM, who had the idea and put in so much of his time to make it a success, and to the local restaurants and everyone who came to support it. I attended the event at Tarana in Lingfield, which saw about 70 people dine to raise money.
Looking ahead slightly, on September 30 I will be supporting the Bluebell Railway by participating in a sponsored walk along the northern extension line. This is an effort to raise funds for works to be completed. I will be walking from East Grinstead Station to Kingscote and back, which will be four miles in total. I have always had a fondness of the Bluebell Railway as my grandfather used to work on these lines many years ago and so I shall think of him as I walk. It is a much treasured asset to our area and indeed a great tourist attraction to boost our economy.
