RESCUER: East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service founder Trevor Weeks with the rescued baby deer
He purchased a baby bottle from Tesco and with the help of staff he was able to examine the deer in the superstore's car park.
Trevor said: "I was very surprised at the size of the deer, at this time of year I would expect them to be larger. This is certainly the smallest baby deer we have been asked to deal with.
"I was very concerned about the health of this deer, so I spoke to veterinary staff at St Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Buckinghamshire where they have a special deer hospital."
The deer was originally found on the A283 near Storrington in West Sussex on Monday, before WRAS fundraiser Julie Hosier and rescuer Greg Holliday contacted Trevor so he could take it to safety.
