Rule changes
FOOTBALL: Alan Williams has branded the new seven substitutes rule as "annoying".
The Crawley Town chief executive believes that the decision to increase the maximum amount of substitutes for Football League games from five to seven will increase costs for the clubs.
"The new rule was voted on at the chairmens' conference in Portugal last week," Williams said. "It's a bit annoying because clubs will now have to pay for two extra players to travel and stay in hotels for away games. But it has been decided so it's just a case of getting on with it."
The rule is being brought in for the 2012-13 season, although it was previously the case two seasons ago. A maximum of three substitutes can be used from the seven.
