Thales opens new Crawley site in lifeline for town business
GIANT firm Thales has committed its future to Crawley by opening a new £100 million site in the town.
The defence company previously ran six sites across the town, but all 2,500 staff are now moving to one Manor Royal location.
And MP Laura Moffatt, who visited the site on Friday, says the move could have a major impact for Crawley.
She said: "We are extremely lucky that Thales has made this investment here. It is a great testament to Crawley and the Gatwick Diamond.

"Seeing facilities like this go up can raise the spirits in these difficult times. We have to make sure we remain the focus of local business."
Mrs Moffatt says other businesses will choose to base themselves in Crawley as a result of Thales' decision.
She added: "This gives a good message about the town."
Nick Ranier, site manager of the new Thales base, said: "We are making this investment because we are optimistic about the future of Crawley and the region.
"Everything we are building is based on our staff and the talent base they provide here."
The new site houses 6 full-flight simulators and a battlefield simulator which allows soldiers to train before being deployed abroad.
Other new facilities include shops, a gym and a restaurant.
Around 200-300 staff have been moving to the new site each weekend to reduce disruption to the business.
