YOU would think that in the week before the FA Cup final, the trophy itself would be locked away for fear that someone might drop it.

But ahead of Saturday's showdown, where Chelsea beat Liverpool, it was on show in Crawley.

Before heading to Wembley, the famous silverware was shown off at two JJB Sports stores.

The locations were picked because of the number of Chelsea and Liverpool shirts sold there.

Unsurprisingly, it is a JJB store in Liverpool which sells more Liverpool FC merchandise than any of the chain's other branches.

However, it may come as a surprise to hear more Chelsea merchandise was sold over the last year at the company's shop in The Martletts than at any of its other stores.

So all Crawley's Chelsea fans were able to get a closer look at the trophy, which was in the store for five hours last Wednesday.

Fans were even given the chance to have their photo taken with the famous old trophy.

Michael Edwards, an employee at the Crawley store, said: "It was a brilliant day for us. It was a big attraction for customers and it is nice to know that Crawley was its final destination before it was taken back to Wembley to be polished in preparation for the final."
