Woodward told to find new club
Sussex County League Division One
East Grinstead Town 3
Ringmer 4
GOALKEEPER Adam Woodward has been told by East Grinstead manager Tony Beckingham to find himself a new club after being sent off again on his return from a previous suspension.
Grinstead came from behind three times before succumbing to a 90th minute Ringmer strike on Tuesday night, and Beckingham believes the 21-year-old keeper cost them the game.
"Adam is his own worst critic. He hasn't been performing lately and takes that out in the games," the Wasps boss said.
"He swore at the referee and so gave the referee the opportunity to send him off.
"I had a chat with him after the game and told him I won't put up with that. You can't defend the undefendable. He is going to stay until I find a new goalkeeper, hopefully that will be before his ban kicks in."
Grinstead came from behind three times with goals from Richard Sinden, Billy Shinners and new boy Wallis levelling the scores, but a 90th minute Phillips strike condemned them to another defeat.
Beckingham, who was sent to the stands during the match, is planning drastic action to turn the bad form around.
"I want to build something long term here and players have two or three weeks to show me they want to be part of that," he added.
