Engine fire on the M23

Fire fighters rushed to Junction 10 of the M23 to rescue two people in a Volkswagen Polo at 12.20pm on Thursday.
The pair escaped unharmed after their engine started smoking and they made an emergency stop.
Two appliances were sent to the scene to the scene and firefighters used two hose reels to douse the flames that tore through the stricken car.
Both passenger and driver were unharmed.
A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said: "Everyone was outside of the vehicle and free from harm, although the fire was still going.
"Two appliances attended the scene and crews used two hose reels to extinguish the flames."
