FLYING ON THE WINGS OF LOVE: Couples may soon be able to get wed on board easyJet flights.
A new meaning to flying on the wings of love may come into force after budget airline EasyJet made an application to host weddings while flying customers to destinations around the world.
The company, who fly from Gatwick, has said it hopes more and more couples looking for an extraordinary wedding will go to them for their special day.
Plans submitted by the airline mean it would be pilots who officiate the weddings.
Jeffery Husson, who is a captain at EasyJet, said: "To officiate a wedding would be a special honour for me. It would be exciting if I could marry couples above the clouds."
The airline made a written application to the flying authorities in Luton last Friday, and are currently waiting to hear back.
Paul Simmons, EasyJet's UK regional manager said: "We're excited about these plans.
"Future bride and grooms will be able to say 'I do' on their flight. After their marriage at a height of 30,000 feet they can go directly to their honeymoon.
"If our request is replied to positively, then so called 'floating on cloud nine' would get a new meaning for people in love."
