TROUBLESOME: Gary Walker has been handed an ASBO by police.

A PERSISTENT offender who has spat at people, threatened pub workers and terrorised his neighbours has been slapped with an ASBO.

Police were last week finally able to serve an Anti Social Behaviour Order on Gary Walker, after months of court hearings.

Walker, 40, of no fixed address, was slapped with the three-year order last Friday (January 22) at Crawley Magistrates' Court and has been given a number of restrictions that he must abide by.

ASBO: Gary Walker

The news comes after Walker was given a temporary order back in November.

He is now prohibited from:

- shouting, swearing or spitting at any adult or child

- engaging in disorderly conduct

- possessing any open alcoholic drink

- possessing any syringe, needle or pipe

- entering any premises from which he is already barred.

He was also given restrictions as to where he can go around Broadfield.

Sergeant Darren Taylor, from Crawley Police said: "Mr Walker did not attend court, and he was served with the order on Saturday.

"This man was one of the main problems we had in Broadfield Barton in regard to anti-social behaviour. The court have recognised this and granted a three-year ASBO and we won't stop there.

"Anybody who is causing anti social behaviour in Crawley is applying for an ASBO.

"We listen to the residents and they are clearly sick of these people. If you can't behave yourself, that is what happens."

At a previous hearing, the court was told how Walker has already been excluded from entering the West Sussex County Council offices in Woodfield Road after he intimidated staff and made threats to firebomb the offices, while drunk.

In August last year, he was banned from most shops and licensed premises.
