Talented nine receive K2 training boost
The group of nine, earmarked with outstanding potential in their sports, are the first wave of youngsters selected outside of London.
Freedom Leisure, which manages K2 in Crawley in partnership with GLL Sport Foundation, revealed the list of athletes who will be given free access to K2 while others will receive a cash grant to help with specific training needs.
Grants of between £250 and £500 will be made by the Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation, to help youngsters achieve their sporting ambitions.
Winners included swimmers Sophie Brooks (Crawley Swimming Club) ranked number six in her age group and club colleague Adam Harrington, ranked number one in his age group. She received the Potential Award and Harrington the Development award.
Other recipients were: Bradley Hall (athletics), Timothy Innes (fencing), Elizabeth Maries (athletics), Jonathan Reigate (hockey), Sean Reynolds (kickboxing), Sam O'Connor (swimming, life saving) and Lucy Stickland (athletics).
