BOUNCING BACK: Crawley put last weekend's disappointing performance behind them

CRAWLEY bounced back from last week's heavy defeat with this convincing victory over Blackheath.

Goals from Kieron Fuller and Jamie Westwood moved the side five points clear of the relegation zone.

Straight from the start Crawley showed they had improved dramatically on their previous performance - moving the ball faster and creating chances quicker.

However, they were still indebted to goalkeeper Gary Thornton who made a couple of fine saves to keep things level.

The first goal came when substitute Rob Gate made a good run down the right behind the Blackheath defence and won Crawley a penalty corner following a great overhead ball from Fuller who then buried the ball in the bottom corner.

The home side almost had a second before half-time when Gate got behind the Blackheath defence but put the ball wide of the post.

After the break Crawley's discipline faded slightly which won Blackheath a penalty corner which was deflected off the keeper into the net, it was then disallowed after much deliberation by the umpires due to a ruling.

This outraged Blackheath and gave Crawley a lifeline which they took full advantage of winning another short corner.

After a well organised move skipper Westwood fired home Crawley's second.
