OAKWOOD manager John Mist hopes the double signing of Scott Mean and Ian Payne will put his side on the path to promotion.
The club moved into mid-table in division two following this vital win on Saturday and are now looking to bounce back having been relegated from Division One last season following the two huge signings.
Mean, 35, enjoyed a professional career at West Ham, where he made three first team appearances, before having a brief spell at Crawley Town.
He gave up competitive football to take up acting. Since then he has appeared in Sky TV's Dream Team, the football film Mike Bassett England Manager and more recently has been in episodes of Eastenders.
Left back Payne, 32, started his career at Plymouth Argyle as an apprentice but is most well known locally for playing more than 350 games for Crawley Town.
Mist said: "I think they will both be available for the majority of the games. They are both good lads who I know from school and they'll be able to help our young players come through and improve."
Against Southwick goals from Chris Williams, Tom Tolfrey and San Atwal were enough to secure the three points.
"It was a good result," added Mist. "We were doing alright against Sidley before I made a mistake and made some changes that didn't really work.
"I'll hold my hands up to that one."
