East Grinstead Stamp and Postcard Club

A year ago the East Grinstead club incorporated the word 'postcard' in its title, reflecting that many members collected both stamps and postcards, but also hoping that by widening the scope of the club there might be potential to attract new members.

To this end, the meeting of the club held on February 16 was a postcard evening; short presentations were to be given by members and the meeting was open to non-members.

The hope for visitors did not materialise, 12 short displays were presented by members, demonstrating there is already a wide interest in postcard collecting within the club, and encouraging the club committee to develop this aspect, and indeed to try again to invite fellow collectors to join the club. It was already planned that two meetings later in the year will be devoted to displays of postcards by visiting speakers.

In the meantime the next two meetings of the club will be given over to invited displays: Stamps of Honduras (not Argentina as on the programme) on March 2 and the postal history of Brighton on March 16.
