CELEBRATIONS for a town landsmark's special anniversary continued last weekend with Founder's Day.

Sackville College marks its 400th anniversary this year and opened at weekend for the occasion.

The day was opened by the college's patron, the Earl de la Warr, with the help of town mayor Lee Marmara.

The Grade 1 listed building opened its doors for a day of entertainment, including story telling, music, a dog show and college tours.

College warden Graham Gaisburgh-Watkyn said: "It went very well. The weather was very kind to us. The celebrations got off to a good start. We had tremendous support."

"We also had Jan Rejzl who is an expert on Good King Wenceslas, which was written here."

Other events will be held throughout the year, including concerts and a flower festival, to mark the college's milestone.
