The Queen Victoria Hospital social club is organising a Help for Heroes Day on April 23 to mark St George's Day.
Bob Marchant, the long-serving curator of the Guinea Pig Club museum and chairman of the hospital social club, is hoping his son Neil will bring colleagues from the RAF Regiment in Oxfordshire, where he is sergeant, to the town.
The Guinea Pig memorabilia has now been moved to the town museum in Cantelupe Road.
Mr Marchant said his son went into the RAF just before his 18th birthday and had served for nearly 24 years. Tours of duty included Afghanistan and Kosova .
"We have a social evening in aid of a special cause every year and we thought Help for Heroes would be a good choice," he said. "It will be a social evening with music, a raffle and refreshments for our members," he said.
