Dog owner left with £800 bill after her pet is mauled by two Staffies
Shirley Kennell was out with her daughter Sam Roberts, walking her Lurcher, Fly, when the dog was attacked
The ladies were on a public footpath walk through the woods that join Eden Vale, in Dormans Park, when the attack took place.
Mrs Roberts said: "Fly was on her lead, when out of nowhere the dogs were on her, biting her.
"I tried to fight them off Fly but the dogs had just latched onto her. I remember shouting to the lady owner, 'put them on a lead' but all I was trying to do was shelter Fly.
"It was such a shock and my mother was so shaken."
Mrs Roberts claims the lady owner of the other dogs didn't make any attempt to stop her animals attacking Fly.
The ladies took the injured Lurcher to the vet, where she under went an operation and was kept in for three days.
The eight-year-old dog is now on the road to recovery but Mrs Kennell says last month's incident has left her shaken.
The 69-year-old said: "I'm so glad she is ok. I had insurance but I still had to pay £839 at the vets.
"I hope when the woman reads this, she feels as bad as my dog did. She was so irresponsible.
"I was screaming, please put them on the lead, they're tearing my dog to pieces."
The Copthorne resident said she is now scared to walk her dog and is constantly on looking behind her.
"We'll never go back to that wood again and it was such a lovely walk," she added.
The incident was reported to Surrey Police, who are now investigating.
