Safari so good for book week

Friday, October 10, 2008, 12:00

PUPILS at Broad Oak primary school have been taking a walk on the wild side.

The school held a safari-themed book week from September 29 to October 3, culminating in a fancy dress day on Friday.

There was a special assembly with certificates for the winners of various competitions throughout the week, followed by a parade, featuring flamingos, zebras and safari guides.

Deputy headteacher Jenny Swan said storyteller Jamie Crawford entertained the children with a selection of "wonderful animal tales" from around the world.

The week was also a chance to purchase books from the book fair. This raised a staggering £700, allowing the school to choose new books for the classrooms and library.
