IT HAS been a busy and charitable 10 days for the club captain and members of Crowborough Beacon Golf Club.

On Friday last week, the popular Whiz Kids charity golf day was held at The Beacon for the 10th year. This year, again, over £10,000 was raised on the day to help the children.

George Cohen MBE, of the 1966 World Cup team, was guest of honour. Club captain Trevor Newman was surprised and honoured to receive an engraved trophy from regional fund-raising manager Ashley Westpfel commemorating this anniversary in thanks to the club.

Over the last weekend, the club captain's annual prize weekend was held, raising just over £3,000 for the charity The Cleft Lip and Palate Association. Numerous competitions, an auction and member donations for putting misdemeanours at the ninth green contributed in glorious weather.
