WELL BEATEN: Crawley (in yellow) suffered a second half collapse
The game started well with some great hockey being played by Crawley, however, the home side were looking dangerous on the break.
Neverthless the visitor's defence of Sara Oxby, Helen Hamilton, Tracy Groves and Becky Whitelock handled everything that came their way.
The game was still fairly even although Eastbourne were starting to get the upper hand in terms of possession and Crawley keeper Louise Flett was forced into some great saves.
Crawley managed to get the ball into the attack and got rewarded by they hard work with a short corner.
Michelle Berry pushed the ball out to Sue Allen who had a shot but it was deflected off the back line by an Eastbourne player.
Right on half-time Eastbourne won a short corner. The short corner has to stand so Eastbourne pushed all their players around the D.
The ball was pushed out and their striker player took a snapshot which was stopped by Sara Oxby but then another Eastbourne player got the ball and scored with the final flick of the half.
The second half began with Crawley trying everything to get the ball out of their defence, with the midfield of Vicky Scargill, Julie Bosence and Jane Lomas working really hard but sadly Eastbourne came through at speed and slotted their second goal. Crawley's heads didn't go down but Eastbourne were now on form and their set plays were working really well for them.
The forward line of Michelle Berry, Sue Allen and Sanjit Saraw tried to come back to help the defence but Eastbourne were confident and put in another goal which made it 3-0.
Crawley never gave up, but the home team added three more goals late on to make the final score worse than the visitors performance had deserved.
Crawley: Flett, Oxby, Hamilton, Groves, Whitelock, Lomas, Bosence, Scargill, Saraw, Allen, Berry.
