Crowborough artist can paint a mural on your walls
Katherine Bridges, 18, of Melfort Road, would do anything to create the eye- catching scenery on a glittering West End stage.
But rather than pick a pocket or two, the talented resident is asking who will buy her artwork.
Katherine was thrilled to discover she had been awarded a place on a highly-acclaimed course in set design run by the National Youth Theatre, but now has to find £1,500 in order to meet the fees.
She said: "I have always loved the theatre. But I can't act and I can't sing, so I thought making sets would still be part of the theatre life."
Katherine's parents say they cannot afford to pay the sum and want her to find her own way of raising the money for the 12-week course.
The former Lewes College student has expertise in creating murals and is appealing to East Sussex residents to commission her to complete work in their homes.
It is one of her favourite things to artistically recreate images on a large scale using acrylic paint.
She has already painted Tinkerbell onto the bedroom of a friend's room, and images of musicians on the walls of The Sussex Academy of Music in Shoreham.
She says she scooped one of only 60 places available on the course, from a total of 3,000 applicants.
As well as showing the National Youth Theatre a selection of her work, she also had to go through an interview process so they could get to know her.
She said: "I was really happy. I think it will be really fun. I am really excited about it."
She is working at the Pinewood Manor Nursing Home in Crowborough, but has less than four weeks until the course starts on July 13. After the course, Katherine will go on to Brighton University for an art foundation degree.
