Christopher Gillett was travelling from his home in Hailsham to work at the Tesco store in Uckfield at around 5.30am when he fell from his motorbike in the High Street.
The former Hailsham Community College pupil, of Lepeland, sustained a serious head injury and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
His family released a statement through Sussex Police which said: "Chris was a hard-working man who'd worked for Tesco in Uckfield for the last five years.
"He enjoyed football, motor-biking and swimming.
"He was a unique character who lived life to the full, always putting his family first.
He will be very dearly missed by all his family and friends."
Tesco store manager Samantha Bush added: "Chris was a very popular and hard-working member of the team."
The investigation carried out by Sussex Police has led them to believe no other vehicle or people were involved.
