The race is on at Lingfield Park to raise money for cancer charity
RESIDENTS are being urged to take to the track at Lingfield Park to help raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Lingfield Park has teamed up with the Racing Post to spearhead the nationwide fund-raising drive, which encourages racecourses to support the charity.
The Racecourse Road venue is launching the Do It For Dad campaign, which challenges people to run, walk or stroll the 5km distance around the course.
Organisers of the event on Saturday (August 11) are hoping to encourage families to take part.

Each year, more than 10,000 men die from prostate cancer – the equivalent of almost one every hour.
Mark Bishop, director of fundraising for the charity, said: "Every year, over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, which is the most common cancer in men. We're fighting the disease on every front – through research, support, information and campaigning.
"Funds raised through these fun runs will help us support men affected and their families."
Registration costs £25 per adult, but all accompanied children under the age of 18 can participate for free.
All entrants at Lingfield Park will receive a free ticket for that evening's racing and music night featuring music from the film Grease.
