A LITTLE boy waved his magic wand over the Britain's Got Talent judges.

Five-year-old Thomas Herron from East Grinstead managed to leave Simon Cowell speechless with his magic tricks' on the Saturday night ITV show.

The talented magician travelled to the January auditions in London with his parents for the chance to perform for Her Majesty the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.

On Saturday around 10million people watched the recorded show as Thomas was put through to the next round of the competition by judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden.

Proud mum Diane said the St Mary's School pupil has been performing tricks since he was just three-years-old.

She said: "He saw a magician's act in Poole and he got absolutely obsessed with it. I started putting his plastic swords through boxes and we thought we should really focus this. My husband used to be a carpenter and built him his first magic trick.

"He knows the effect it has on an audience with the wow factor and when he goes on stage he loves the reaction. When he's asked how he does it, he says magic."

Mrs Herron said she and her husband Colin thought about entering their son into last year's competition but thought it might have been too much for him.

"He's done it at holiday camp competitions and I asked him if he would like to perform on the Britain's Got Talent stage and after that every time he saw Simon Cowell he asked when he could do his magic in front of him.

"We decided to apply and said if he didn't want to do it anymore we would walk away," she said.

The family received a call last week from ITV telling them Thomas would be on Saturday night's show.

She added: "He's got a lot of tricks up his sleeves. He loves big stage illusions, they're his favourite. He got a really nice reaction from Simon Cowell but when they asked if he would like to meet the Queen he said no.

"He does the excitement, we do the nerves. We wanted everything to go right for him and to enjoy it. He loved it. When he goes on stage he's a different person, he loves being on stage."

Thomas has already performed in the next round of the competition but audiences will have to wait to find out if the five-year-old cast his spell over the judges for a second time.
